Winterkill Bison Calf

The extremely heavy snowpack from the 2010-11 winter kept the bison outside the park (near West Yellowstone and elsewhere) a lot longer than usual. It also stressed the herd by making their usual food sources scarce or late-appearing. This calf carcass is one result. Spotted off-trail in the Cougar Creek drainage, June 2011.
