Nicely Done!

Well written and obviously proofread (rare on SP-I came across very few errors and typos). Informative as well as entertaining, good photos and overall a good overview of a first-timer's visit to Colorado's mountains. Well done! Congratulations on a successful trip! When you come back, be sure to climb Castle-you'll like that one and it's certainly worth your trouble to return.

Re: Nicely Done!

I appreciate your praise and thoughts. I'll be sure to keep Castle in mind. And you can expect me to ask you again which peaks might go on the list for a second trip.

Nice job

Looks like fun, too. Hmmm...I've got some PTO to burn, maybe I should just take an in-state vacation!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Re: Nice job

Yeah, you don't have to go far to get to some good peaks. Neither do I for that matter.

Nice work

Sounds like a great trip. Thanks for sharing. I agree about the road between Ouray and Durango. If you are interested in something with easier access, but a bit more challenging summits, check out the Maroon Bells - Snowmass Wilderness area. The road is paved the whole way, and it ends in a big watershed that has endless opportunities for hiking, peak bagging, and technical climbing up loose rock!

Best of luck in your future climbs.

Beauty!!!

What a great and wonderful ride!! Talk about doing things differently and solo! Enjoyed reading this and the things you did in the downtime.
Good call on those two misfits who thought a 2:00pm start would be a good idea. You could have said a lot of different things but you said the right words.
Glad to see the trip was a success!

Re: Very cool

The bike is a 2003 1200cc. On the freeways I usually kept it between 80 and 100 mph so the wind was kind of intense but I was anxious to get where I was going. Thanks for the encouragement!
