Aiguilles Rouges d'Arolla from the NE

I'm roughly south of Mont de l'Etoile (3370m), descending, and have almost reached the point where the route joins the much more frequently traveled one between the La Gouille trailhead (±1800m) and Pointe de Vouasson (3490m). In fact, that route is directly on the other side of the first small snowy ridge in this picture. I'm not going to cross it though, for I've spent enough energy today and when I can I prefer to go down, not up. And so I head to the left, beside the ridge, until it simply fades away lower down. 11 March 2014.
