Lac Blanc
After many other little hikes in the Alps, the kids were a bit worn out, so on this day we just wandered around the trails leading away from the Flegere cable car station (didn't make it to Lac Blanc). The views of the various needles/aiguilles of the Mont Blanc Massif on the other side of the valley were quite impressive.
Views across Chamonix to the Dru, Grandes Jorasses and Mont Blanc were absolutely amazing.

Surprisingly exciting little range
Having made paraglider ascents of the Brevant and flown some way along the range in 1980's - then finally climbed the highest summit (Belvedere) 2 days ago, I think that justifies my signing the log for Phil's page. The Aiguille Rouge range seems enormously overshadowed by Mont Blanc & Co on the other side of the valley (& indeed looks tiny from MB summit!) - but up close it is spectacular and views superb. Well worth a visit when the big ones are not an option.
