Overview

Cerro Quemado

This single pitch route, also in the La Veritcal Section, is great for top roping and offers some great foot and hand holds all the way to the top. Bolts are placed along the face. You can see the La Vertical crack just to the right.

Route Description

Cerro Quemado

Follow the Arete to the anchors up top. There are plenty of hand and foot holds. The route is on the right face of the arete. There are six bolts. This one of the few moderate routes in this section. You can also traverse right in order to reach the top anchors of Dulce Jiba to top rope it. The actual rating of the arete is around 5.9+

Essential Gear

This is a bolted route so you only need six quickdraws.

Getting There

From Xela, take any bus that goes to Almolonga or to Zunil via Almolonga (2 Quetzales). Get off at Baues and walk up the road. Its a 1.5km walk to La Muela and another 1.5km to Chicua. In Chicua, just ask where the trail is and take it up. The boulders and the routes are pretty obvious. You can also take a cab, the cost is about 100 Quetzales.
