Bald Eagle and Silver Eagle

Bald Eagle and Silver Eagle

Bald Eagle Peak (left) and Silver Eagle Peak (right), as seen from the southern slopes of Beckler Peak. Bald Eagle Peak and Silver Eagle Peak are both located within Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Due to a clerical error in the mid-1900s, USGS maps (and maps that were created with them as references) misidentify the locations of the two peaks, swapping their positions. Contrary to current USGS maps, Bald Eagle Peak (6259' elevation) is in actuality the taller of the two peaks and located east of Silver Eagle Peak. "Green Trails" maps correctly identify the location and name of these two peaks. Photo taken on February 15, 2010.

Darnit!

I think you can see the point we made it to on the north ridge. Now that I've seen this impressive shot, we have to go back there, THIS winter.

Re: Darnit!

I can totally see the point we turned around on our first attempt. I will show you the photo, in person, and point it out. It's a nice looking peak.
