Beinn Ghlas   Sucess!

This is a lovely hike and includes two Munros. You will need to dress in layers. Waterproof clothing is a must as rain clouds move in and out. Although the hike is not at altitude the elevation gain makes it very challenging.

Walked up, flew down  Sucess!

A fine summers evening I walked up to the top and then flew down by paraglider, back in the days when most paragliders were little more than parachutes - and serious cross country flying was just getting underway.

In the clouds  Sucess!

Cold and windy with almost no visibility; could hardly tell we were at the summit.

I felt my legs after this one  Sucess!

Spent 2 weeks in a farm house on the edge of Loch Dochart and bagged everything in site. The route we took was from the visitors center then Beinn Ghals-Ben Lawers-Creag an Fhithich - An Stuc - Meall Garbh, followed by one of the longest walkouts via the various sheilings. Fantastic weather and fabulous views, albeit rather windy on top.

Normal route  Sucess!

Big winds at the top and snow on the way down--Bright sunshine by the time I got back to the parking lot. I love Scotland in May!

Via Beinn Ghlas  Sucess!

A f*** amount of snow flying almost horizontal, a lot of people, standing on the top drinking tea and eating sandwiches, and a dachshund going crazy at the top with all that snow ...
But it's a fine rememberance of hiking in Scotland, and I'm very glad we made it. And the descend via Meall Corrainaich was plain great!!

Via Beinn Ghlas  Sucess!

Cold and very misty day, still a bit of snow to get through at parts. No view from Beinn Ghlas and absoutely freezing but, continued on to reach the summit of Ben Lawers (which was exactly the same). Was lucky enough for the mist to clear and the sun to come out for the descent. Turned out a cracking day. A very worthwhile days walking.

Normal to Ben Lawers  Sucess!

Ben Lawers might not be a high summit, it even has a kept stairway trail to its top (which was in the process of being renewed when we climbed the mountain. Yet, thanks to Scottish weather even a hill like Ben Lawers can be memorable. We froze our asses off trying to take in a lunch on the wind swept top.
