Black Rhino

The Black Rhino is a highly endangered species. This is one of only 20 black rhino left in the Ngorongoro National Park today. There are less than 100 of them left in the entire country of Tanzania, and less than 4000 in the world. Thanks to strong anti-poaching measures, the animal population has recovered slightly in recent years. Each of the rhinos in Ngorongoro N/P has been fitted with a tracking device and are guarded 24 hours per day from poachers. Photo taken in the Ngorongoro Crater Feb 6, 2007.
