Route Climbed: Parking Lot Trail
Left Asheville at 6:45 and was standing on the summit by 9:10. Took the easy path as I didn't have time to do the Jack's Knob trail. Bit blustery and clouds obscured some of the view, but had the top of Georgia to myself. Nobody there to collect my $3 either. Scrambled to the top of Wolfpen Ridge HP (P4561) for grins. Of course by the time I was speeding back through Hiawassee the clouds were clearing nicely and I could see the summit. Oh well, off to Mount Mitchell...number 9 in the book of HPs.

Low Clouds
Took the short hike up from the big parking area .6 miles. On my way back to VA. Being the 1st of January, not too crowded luckily. Great views, and although a developed summit, it's done nicely at least. Nice weather, chilly, but warm for this time of year all over the country. Saw a sign for a 4.5 mile AT route...I want to check that out sometime. Highpoint #8.

Number 4!
Beautiful views all around. Snowy and cold at the top, scenic drive up as well, a great day!
The weather was perfect for a climb to the top. Not too humid at all. Met some of the people who maintain the trail (the name of their organization escapes me at the moment) and enjoyed talking to them.

Family Highpoints Trip
In 1987 our family did a highpoints driving trip and hit Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Kentucky's high points. This was number 23 of my 49 state high points, number 22 for daughter Vanessa, and number 9 for Holly and Hillary.

Took the easy way up to the top
I cheated and took the easy way to the top ;) This was my first state highpoint! It was a very foggy day and so there was no view but I did enjoy touring the USFS Visitor Center at the top.

Brasstown Bald
Flew into Atlanta and visited Georgia Aquarium on April 8. Drove to Brasstown Bald the next day. Climbed via the Jacks Knob Trail 5.8 miles round trip. Nobody on the trail. A lot of the people at the parking lot and at the museum on top. Very nice hike on a sunny day. A ranger unlocked a gate so that I could take a picture of the USGS benchmark. HP #7.
