Claret Cup Blooms

Claret Cups are the first cacti to bloom in Red Rocks, Nevada. The flowers remain open even during the night, unlike the flowers of many other species of cacti. These scarlet red flowers are hummingbirds' favorites. Photographed on April 8, 2007 above Juniper Canyon.
