A mighty struggle......between the wind and the peak. Beautiful composition.

Re: A mighty struggle...Yes, the struggle was fascinating. At some times the plume from the summit was many km long.

What a great photo!Awesome. Probably isn't that disappointing to turn around when you still get to take away a photo like that!

Re: What a great photo!:-)
No and that's the way it is up there. The Karakorams are (in)famous for bad weather and the days you can't climb, you can enjoy other things, for ex. dramatic views like this one.

nice shot!I have never seen GIV from this angle. Very striking. It is like a giant himalayan version of Alpamayo. Very nice shot.

Only climbersOnly climbers of the Gasherbrum group mountains sees it from this side. You have to have a climbing permit and then you have to walk a couple of km up the Gasherbrum glacier. Then it appears, the mighty GIV!
Have a look here for more details about how to get up to the foot of the peak

Reminessence of... Walter Bonatti and Carlo MauriLike others said, this is a striking view of GIV. Just reminds me how huge were those efforts made by the first succesfull party, back in 1958.

Just imagine the clothing of 1958!
The climbers of that era were tough!
