My first backpack ever was to Clouds Rest. It was a lot easier this time.
Had a great hike with Amy & Tim, via Tenaya Lake. Perfect summer day.
Beautiful Spring day. Patches of snow on the trail here and there. Tenaya Creek up to the knees in places. All my life I've looked up to this place, and finally, finally got to visit it. Met another solo fella just before wading across the creek, and we hit it off. A great visit, all the way out and back.
Had to turn back 50ft from the summit one year ago due to ice, but not this year!
Did the dayhike from Happy Isles - the trail was devoid of snow until patchy snow around 8,500 feet, then occasional deep snow above 9,500 feet. Glad I decided to lug the snowshoes up. Trip report at http://www.mountainhiker.org/trip_report.aspx?id=83
Hiked from Tenaya Lake. Superb views on the final ridge.
Quick day hike with John on a crisp, cold morning. I think the view from the summit is as good or better than any other point in Yosemite. Great vantage point between the Valley and Tuolumne.
Guided a group of female backpackers over Clouds Rest on day 2 from Tenaya Lake. Was my first time up and I almost felt bad that it had taken me this long to experience a real Yosemite classic! Spectacular views all around and a fun airy summit (for non-climbers anyway).
Best view of the park, hands down. Nice stroll from Tenaya Lake, fun scramble along the knife-edge. Excellent weather and fun group made for a memorable outing.
Nice hike from Tenaya Lake and not too many people on the trail.
Perfect hike to get the YNP overview and fairly easy to boot!
From Sunrise with Half Dome the next day. The views are as good as reported. I quite enjoyed walking along the ridge.
Very pleasant and relaxing hike. Spent 2+ hrs on the summit.
Clouds scudding across the sky let the peak live up to its name. Hands down best views of Yosemite.
Snowshoed up, but had to turn back when we weren't able to get any purchase with the snowshoes on the final stretch.
Did the hike from Tanaya Lake - not as tough as I had expected. Once you get past the first ridge it is actually fairly easy.
first experience in yosemite, did a loop through LYV to cloudsrest and back. Few crowds in a fairly snowfree December...Really nice
No snow on trail before 8800 ft. Spent 45 minutes at the summit taking in the astonishing view of the Valley and a frozen and snow covered Tenaya Lake
i made it!not a very hard hike though.
Tough first hike for a flatlander from the East Coast -- but a great introduction to Yosemite.
