This was a quick stop in the dark on my way to Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Weekend.
Lovely English woman ran out from her house to give me historical data about the HP
Roadtrip to Delaware for Labor Day weekend. This is # 10 ... I'm a fifth of the way to my goal of making all 50!
Had to bail out the benchmark as it was under 2" of water from the storm that we were following from the WV Highpoint! HP #6 for Dad.
15.5 hours of driving through the heart of Pennsylvania and then back to Ohio for another highpoint! #31.
Was in the area visiting family and made a quick side trip.
Made it up here on a beautiful late-spring day. The approach was tough (I muddled my directions and wound up cutting through neighborhoods in downtown Wilmington, plus it took me a couple of passes to find Ebright Rd.), but the views from the summit were worth it. :)
In New Jersey for work and thought I would stop off to see the highest point in Delaware. I think this is the closest high point to the road that I have experienced. Interesting that they paved over the geodetic marker and that a vigilant resident had the sidewalk partially removed. Thanks for your help!
Round trip - 10 minutes. Elevation gain - 2 feet!
Drove east from Boonsboro, Md on a geocaching expedition that lead me to Delaware's Azimuth. Beautiful area. Highpoint #2 for me:)
My favorite part about my State HP #2 was visiting with Doreen. What a sweet lady!
Quick detour on the drive from DC to Boston. Lovely sunset! Got pizza down the road before getting back to the highway.
Quick stop here for #16.
It is what it is. Drove through the trailer park too just in case though.
Not much to see but another one off the list.
We drive by on US-1 and US-322 all the time, but never actually stopped before. On a trip to First State National Monument in New Castle and Woodlawn, we tagged this on as a finishing flourish to our afternoon. Highpoint #8!
Well, damn...I should have read the climbers' log before passing through. It was after midnight, I was on my way to Shenandoah from PHL, and I did not want to make too much of a stir in the neighborhood. So I missed getting my pic of the benchmark.
Ah, well. Fun to visit, but Dogfish Head is probably a more worthy Delaware stop...:-)
Went to this entertaining highpoint at the beginning of a trip. Seems that the true HP is next to the first trailer you come to on the right in the mobile home park.
Visited the one highpointers designated benchmark. It was a fun detour from the trip between friends in DC and friends in Philly. Doreen came out to visit with us.
Pretty easy. Wheelchair accessible. Drive thru highpoint. Summit sign can be read from where you park. The sheer lunacy of finding a bump in the middle of a neighborhood keeps it fun.
