Pit stop off I-95
Nailed this one driving from NC to Long Island. Nice quiet, little neighborhood. I got the idea that the residents must think I was crazy but I guess they get it regularly. #2 for me.
Hit this one up on drive back from Red Sox @ Baltimore game. great weekend.

HP #10
Easy to find. Used to coordinates and the GPS took me right to it. Had trouble finding survey marker. Didnt look in additions and corrections to see that it is actually on same side of the street at sign. Was finally able to find it after about 15 mins of looking, asked some nice lady walking her dog.

Got this out of the way..
Hardest part? Finding a place to park... then stepping out of the Air Conditioned car into the 90+ degree heat!

After spending the day walking around historic Philadelphia and on my way to D.C., I "hiked" to the "summit" of Ebright Azimuth. The hardest part was the fact I had a blistering headache.

Second time
Came back here for the second time (the first was in '92). It seems much the same, but there is now a nice concrete curb in front of the sign, that allows someone to take a photograph without standing in the middle of traffic. We hit it on a rainy Sunday morning, so it was a pretty quiet summit.

My 12th high point
Just a little day drive. Nice day out and definitely a cool sign!

Yes, another HP!
Made the highpoint after finally finding a place to park. Reached the high point with my daughter Noelle.
Well...the skyline of Wilmington was bigger than I expected. It was easy to find. It was very neat and tidy. The flowerbed was in bloom. I got a picture at midnight. On to Philly!

"This is really dumb, Dad."
My daughter Vanessa and I had just started our state highpoint quest. At 9 years old, this was the predictable reaction to having her picture taken on the side of the road near the intersection of Elbright Rd and Ramblewood Drive, then identified as the highpoint and also know as "Tower Hill". There was no sign then identifying it as the state highpoint. It was our number 3

Intersection was much busier than I had anticipated. We braved the elements, and made it to the sign.

HP #2
Conquered the mighty Azimuth on the way back from my best man's wedding in New York. My wife went shopping while I slogged my way across the street to the blue sign.

Another HP
It was refreshing to get to a real place with real streets and houses; youe don't see anything real from the interstates. HP #19 for me.

Didn't realize it was the Highpoint at the time, but I guess I can sign the summit log since I drove on this road the other day.

Epic!
We opted for the one-day ascent without a basecamp. The crux (stepping out of the car) was tricky when I hit my knee on the steering wheel. It was a minor injury and I was able to fight through the pain and tag the summit. Well worth the effort.

Doreen Makes This HP Special...
I love hearing the history of this highpoint and the surrounding area. I have to be honest; Doreen made this HP special for me. I visited before sunset, and gave her a "Thank You" card. I had never met with or spoken to her before then, but I wanted to give her something for all she had done for this highpoint and highpointers alike. We spent a long time talking with each other, sharing stories... my favorite was the "Candid Camera" story she told me. She even directed me to the "other" U.S. Geological disk down another street. Awesome lady.
This was the seventh of seven HPs (plus Washington, D.C.) I would reach in two days' time. HP #31 for me.
