Approach
Drive west from Monterrey on highway 40 to the El Jonuco exit, make a "U" turn and then exit south (right) a few hundred yards ahead, drive up 4 Km past the security gate on a steep winding paved road to the second security gate, ask for permission; drive .5 Km up and take the right fork at the first "Y", then take the left one on the second "Y" split to the end of the road 1 Km ahead.
Route Description
The trail starts at the end of the road, winding through the forest on steep slopes, after about 1.5 hours you reach El Cuervo, wich is a nice camping spot, then the trail goes southwest on gentler slopes for another 70 minutes to La Calle, from there the actual summit is reached hiking up a small hill to the north.
The whole trail is well worn and straight forward.
