"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

SuperbWhenever I am in Scotland I always make time for Glencoe. I will be coming back until my end days.

BeautifulThis is most definitely my favourite place. Beautifully scenic, great campspots, friendly people and a magical atmosphere, no matter the weather. What more could you ask for.

Great placeDate is my last visit when I made about my fifth ascent of Curved Ridge on Buchaille Etive Mor - one of the best scrambles in the UK. Over the years since 1978 I have climbed all the major peaks on both sides of the glen, some a few times - and making ascents both summer and winter.

Magnificent MountainsHaving climbed some tops on both sides of Glencoe I'm getting a little more familiar with the area. It is impressive throughout the year whether in snow, rain, hail, sleet, or very occasionally sunshine. I used to think that Llanberis was the most beautiful valley in the UK but although I still think it is great, it has to take 2nd place to Glencoe.
