Green-Flagstaff Combo from People's Crossing

Steep climb up and snow with post-holing the last 1/2 mile or so. Beautiful day on top. Went down the ranger trail and hit Flagstaff as well, on the way back down went through the amphitheater area.

Fun Hike

Super fun hike/run. I was pretty ambitious and thought I would run up (like all the ultrarunning champs in the area), but it turned into more of a hike up and a fun run down. Loved it! Lots of people, though.

West Ridge

Went up the short West Ridge but came back down the EM Greenman for a big loop. Fun hike with great views.

West Ridge

My wife is applying to grad school at CU-Boulder so we came out to check it out. Boulder was great and the mountains around the town are fantastic. Chose to hike Green because it seems like a local staple. The west ridge trail was easy and the views from the top are great. I loved gazing at the Continental Divide. Longs Peak looms large even from Green Mountain.

Started at Gregory Canyon Trailhead. Some ice, up to 6 inches snow, well-packed. Traction was useful in a few places but not necessary.

Fair Introduction to Boulder Hiking

Green Mountain wasn't MY introduction to hiking in Boulder (that was Bear Peak), but it definitely would be. It isn't as difficult of a climb as neighboring Bear or South Boulder Peaks, but still has fairly decent views, including the plaque displaying the names and locations of most Front Range alpine summits.

With all it's merits, the trail to Green Mountain isn't nearly as pretty as the Shadow Canyon or Bear Canyon trails, and the views from the top aren't nearly as panoramic due to the tree cover. But it's still an enjoyable outing nonetheless.
