Well written. Even the photo captions are full of information, so don't miss them. Beautiful mountain surrounded by beautiful mountains! A picture of GNP without clouds would be a real treat.
Very funny, Aaron. I just returned from a week in GNP, and wait'll you see all the NON-CLOUDY, CLEAR sky I have to show for it. (Or maybe it's just PhotoShop....)
Thanks for checking out the page--I just returned from a week in GNP, and while there actually found another "grizzly" name-related mountain: Medicine Grizzly Peak. Us bears gotta stick together, so I'm thinking of doing that one later this summer....
One comment: I'd find the 2nd paragraph of the Route section - and perhaps even the Overview - easier on my eyes if split up into more paragraphs. Maybe I need new bifocals.
Very nice page. The mountain is appropriately named because a ranger in Glacier once told me this area has an inordinate amount of grizzly encounters and problems.
Thanks, Don! I just got back from a week in GNP, and while there discovered yet another grizzly name-related peak: Medicine Grizzly Peak. NOW do we beat Oregon? (This is important, you know....)
Nice page. I too am surprised MT only has one Grizzly Mountain. Colorado has many peaks named Grizzly, but the grizzlies are all gone-at least for now!
for a wonderful peak. tried getting up there this summer, but my girlfriend was a little put off by the extra elevation we needed to gain from Two Medicine Pass. someday!

Re: great page
Too bad you didn't make the summit, which has—even for GNP—a terrific view of the world. From the pass it's something like 1500 feet elevation gain of relatively easy scrambling; give your girlfriend a stern lecture, then go back and get the mountain!
And thanks for the compliment; the page was just redone, something which this winter I hope to accomplish with all my old SP v.1 pages....
(As a side note, Two Medicine Pass is the only time in my climbing life I've ever been blown off my feet, and was actually airborne—fortunately my legs hit a large boulder, which grounded me—not an experience I'd care to repeat!)
Next time the gal and I are in Glacier, we'll definitely have to give it a run. The only peak she'd climbed prior to our hike to Two Med Pass was Cataract Mountain, so the slog up Grizzly just wasn't appealing to here. I think she'll be up for it next time!

Untitled CommentThanks for checking out the page, Nelson. You may or may not need new bifocals, but your observation has merit. I'll see what I can do....
Hope your shoulder rehab's coming along well!

Untitled CommentExcellent page, Vernon! - Well written with nice pics and links.
Funny that Oregon has more summits named "Grizzly" than Montana!

Nope - we're 10 for your seven and that includes Medicine Grizzly! But whose counting?
Here is a great link for figuring such things out:
