Hawksbill
We hiked this as a family. We had nice, cool fall temps. The views at the summit were great!

Family time
Hike with family on relo trip to Florida. I had to carry my 35lb 3 year old 95% of the time making it bit more challenging than planned. My 14yr old chihuahua had great time and hiked half the distance, my wife completed on foot. Perfect weather to enjoy this park.

A lovely May climb
I tagged the top of Hawksbill as part of an overnight loop hike from the base of Whiteoak Canyon (which must have been around 2500-3000' of gain over seven or eight miles). Was surprised to see the leaves were just emerging up top--they'd been out for weeks down below. I descended just in time to avoid an afternoon thunderstorm and spent the night at a backcountry site along the AT.
We were here for a friend's wedding so EastKing decided to take me there with his uncle. Views were great and there was no air pollution which means the views were CLEAR!!!

Go from White Oak
Did the short hike from Hawksbill parking lot and it was super casual. Have hiked White Oak Canyon before, but have not linked the two yet. Highly suggest doing that!

Love the 3000ft elevation gain via Cedar Run. Hard to top in this area.

Fantastic views
My favorite route is Cedar Run via the White Oak Canyon trailhead. It's a good workout with a 3000' gain. The views from the summite are some of the best in the east.
In winter, during times of significant snow and ice, crampons and axe may come in handy. There are a few places along Cedar Run where a slip wil send you sliding 50'-70' down sideways into the stream.
Saw a large buck near the summit, 6+ points. Very nice panoramic view. Got a little snow squall on the top while everything below was untouched!

Beautiful Winter Day
A sunny day in December is definitely the time to tour Skyline Drive. The park was almost deserted! Enjoyed the brief walk to the top and unobstructed 50-mile views!
