Cloudy + misty day and a companion not acclimatized at all... took us the whole day.
Angelus was very straightforward, more a hike than a climb.
Vertain NE-arete was a nice climb.
Climbed together with Maarten from the Dusseldorfer Huette along the Reinstadler Route to the summit. Did the traverse route with Vertainspitze and afterwards back to Sulden.
The weather was not good. No summit views from both Angelus and Vertainspitze. Still, a very nice tour!
First summit along Angelo - Vertana crossing: North-West spur on Angelo and Walterweg on Vertana
In the morning I had climbed the Tschenglser Hochwand. Back at the Düsseldorfer Hütte I had a big meal and since the weather was holding, which is what I had hoped for, I used the afternoon for fast ascent of Hoher Angelus. On the summit I enjoyed wonderful views, especially of the Laaser Ferner and neigbouring Vertainspitze. On the way down there was a short spell of rain, but hardly had I put on my rain pants or it stopped again. Only much later at night would the heavens really open wide, but by then I was back in Sulden.
via Reinstadler Route - from Düsseldorfer Hut
Climbed the l'Angelo Grande and then traverse to the Vertainspitze, very nice route!
Climbed from Düsseldorfer hut on a windy day.
From Düsseldorfer hut 2.721 to the summit and back down to Sulden via Hinteres Schöneck 3.143m.
Nice ice route with many variations. Doable even late in the year.
NW Ridge (due to unstable weather)
Beautifull traverse of both summits! I can recommend it as trainingstour for the Ortler.
