"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Great Hike!Did the hike together with voxnihili and we saw as many bears as people (one each). Also saw a group of bighorn sheep. We also went across to Peerless. Eventhough voxnihili had some car problems it was overall a great first hike of my '11 CO trip.

AmazingDespite car troubles and afternoon storms forcing an early decent, this was a great hike. The horseshoe cirque was great, bear, deer, sheep, colorful flowers all helped make it a wonderful hike.
And then there were the views in all directions...

Windy!Went with Mike Smith and Shawn Donnelly (and dogs Okie and Jolie) - Kathy felt that it was too cold and stayed at the car. It certainly was cold to start out with, but then it really became about the wind. Seemed very similar to the 14ers.com Horn Fork fest last week on Columbia - which was clocked at 55mph. I recorded a temp of 10F on the summit, which would put wind chill at about -18F. Very rewarding hike!
5/9/21 - Went up Boudoir Couloir with Shawn. We were worried about conditions on the approach, but they turned out to be pretty nice. I was SLOW! and made some noobs mistakes.

Via Sheridan & PeerlessI climbed Horseshoe Mtn. with my sister (her 1st centennial 13er). Horseshoe was the final bump of the day for us having hit up Sheridan and Peerless first after starting near the Dauntless Mine. I love Horseshoe, but this whole area makes me appreciate designated wilderness areas all the more. All the lazy people driving ATVs and 4WD vehicles all the way up to the saddle between Horseshoe and Peerless were quite a nuisance.

another great dayAnother great day in the mountains. We enjoyed some solitude at the summit. Thank goodness the crowds flock to Sherman nearby instead of this mountain.

Beautiful!Nice and easy hike. Weather was overcast, wanted to stay close to Denver and went for this peak, no regrets, beautiful hike.

Windy!Lovely views of the handsome cirque on the way up from Fourmile Creek Rd. Menacing winds upon entering the saddle and the final romp of the ridge to the summit.

Fourmile CreekCombo beginning with Sheridan and Peerless. Some postholing and lots of wind, but few clouds. Brought crampons, but didn't need them. Nice hike with great views. 4H RT.

A DAY OF FIRSTSFirst time above tree line. First time to "climb" anything. First time to "traverse" anything (Peerless). First time to sign a summit log. That was a great surprise, by the way. Did not know that there was such a thing.
Thanks Deb, Sarah, Todd & Sherri for a great climb.

Fourmile CreekFINALLY! After being thwarted three other times (once by whiteout, once by a partner's real estate schedule and once by sketchy avy conditions) I finally made the summit of this peak on a beautiful, if blustery, June day. Partners: Deb and her good friends Candy & Todd and Cheryl. Dog: Stimpy.

Soupy FogWanted to climb the Boudoir Couloir however the snow had already seen it's peak. Fresh snow, warm weather and soupy fog made for an interesting climb. Couldn't see a thing from the top!
