IN THE POCKET

IN THE POCKET

Located just a few miles southeast of the center of Payson is an area familiar to outdoor enthusiasts known as GRANITE DELLS, ARIZONA. The Stewart Pocket (geological) formation is made up of exposed, weathered granite that was shaped by nearby Stewart Creek over thousands of years. Hiking on the 'Boulder Loop Trail' is definately HOT in summer, and your chances of running into a rattlesnake are great! Some of the granite boulders in this area are at least 200 feet tall. ~ photo taken on January 26, 2008. The air temperature was 51 degrees (F) when I took this picture.

Neat

Of course, at first I thought you meant Payson Utah but then I remembered where you live. Love the coloring on these boulders.

Re: Neat

Thank you, Dean! I remember Payson, Utah ...
my best friend's mother lived there back in
the early 1980's. It is actually a neat area in the photo. Just recently, I found out that
the entire town of Payson, Arizona is sitting
on top of granite bedrock. Actually, Betty and Barney Rubble just live down the street from us! KIDDING! Have a great day!!!
