Lemosho Glades route
Did the Lemosho Glades route. Unfortunately it's not allowed to do it solo. Had to go with local guide, porters and cook, which totally ruined the experience.

6 Day Machame
Rainy and snowy week but fortunately summit day was not too bad. The Machame route in six days is doable but offers less acclimatization. In retrospect I would have done it in seven days.

Machame route
We did 7 days Machame route with Tanzania Joy Tours. I would highly recommend this company because all of us were very satisfied with the service provided by them. The porters and the guides were very helpful and the price we paid was very reasonable.

Got to the Top
Took the Lemosho Route, which gave us seven days to acclimatize before summit day. Nine of us got to the top. Great group and great hike, even if we summitted Kibo in clouds and sleet. And outstanding guides -- Bwenje, Edward, Charles and Polite -- who were determined to get this gang of 60-year-olds to the top.

Birthday hike
Birthday hike via Marangu (had only 4.5 days in Africa), crazy trip, beautiful summit, super cold, and met lots of interesting people.

Great guides from Destination Tanzania Safaris (DeTaSa). Began the Shira Plateau route 9/7/15 from Lemosho Glades Trailhead, headed for the Western Breach and final night at Crater Camp. Fatal rockslide in the Breach one day ahead of us closed the route and forced a detour around the mountain: Lava Tower Camp to Barafu Huts via the Southern Circuit. Long, cold slog from Barafu on Summit day.

Really nice trip up the Machame route with Zara tours which I would highly recommend (along with Salim Zimbwe as our guide). Very enjoyable.
