Lodner from the trail to Blasiuszeiger
The conditions in the Texel Group in the summer of 2012 where not unusual. Most importantly, there wasn't much snow left over from spring anymore. That was unfortunate, for, as it happens, snow makes climbing Lodner easier, and I would have liked to have a go at it. Not this time though.
A year later, spring brought a whole lot of snow, and in most parts of the Alps the higher regions had snow well into summer. And so I came back, and it turned out to be an easy climb.
Mind you, the normal route isn't visible from here, as it goes up on the other side of the long and rocky WNW ridge that stretches from the summit to the left in this photo.
