Keyhole  Sucess!

Began at the ranger station at 2am, hiked up to the Keyhole, waited in the freezing hut for some light, then made my way up to the summit, arrived there 7:15. Took an hour long nap on the summit, descended and got back to the TH at 12:20, almost a 10.5 hour day. Boy am I tired!

A Fine Day  Sucess!

Scooted up the keyhole with Brian T. in 4.25 hrs. Planning on a new personal speed record but a windy morning slowed that down. Turned out to be a great day despite the breezy morning. Congrats BT on first Longs summit!

Great Peak  Sucess!

Loft route ascent followed by standard keyhole descent. Descent weather, great group (Dan, Frank & Scott). A great mountain.

Longs II  Sucess!

This was my second time on the summit. I went up the Loft Route, and down the North Face. I actually found Clark's Arrow.

Speed Climbing the Keyhole  Sucess!

Went for a speed attempt on Longs to see how hard I could push myself. 3:45 RT on another busy Saturday. Conditions are good up there, dry and snow free.

Fast and Light  Sucess!

This was my 7th 14er, done in 7 hrs and 15 minutes. By far the most beautiful/technical/exposed mountain thus far. I was prepared physically and mentally, but completely shocked at its difficulty. Being the "cattle route" i presumed that it would be a rather long version of grays or bierstadt. NOPE! i cannot believe how more people don't die up there. I saw 10 year olds, 60 year olds, and everything inbetween. I would have to say 90 percent looked inexperienced. anyway it was gorgeous and i loved the exposure on the narrows. -and also people's expressions on the narrows as they cling on the wall with their life as i skip by like a mountain goat.

Keyhole  Sucess!

5th time on the summit, first round trip of the Keyhole route. Matt and I took a quick midweek jaunt up and down, 5:25 RT. The route is completely snow free, though there is a little water on the Homestretch and in the Trough from snow melt/rain fall.

Check Long's Peak off of Life List  Sucess!

26 years after listening to my brother tell me about his climb up Long's I finally made it to the summit. My attempt in 2005 ended at the Keyhole due to bad weather. For this attempt in 2006 the weather was perfect. Hoping for success again this August.

That was a close one  Sucess!

Woke up shortly after 3am and started the approach from the parking lot. Pretty easy going, up until the keyhole. Got to the summit at around 10am, saw some clouds, but didn't look like anything was going to happen. Boy, was I wrong. It started pouring shortly after I passed the keyhole on the way back. Very scary lighting strikes all around.

Keyhole  Sucess!

Solo climb of the Keyhole. The route is still "technical" and ice axe and crampons were definitely needed. Descended to Clark's Arrow and traversed to Meeker then down the Iron Gates. Had Longs all to myself this day!

GOOD GOOD  Sucess!

Great summit from any route. Might have done this mountain about 20 times and from all sides.

unplanned bivy  Sucess!

forgot to sign in from last summer. Climbed too slowly and spent the night on a ledge. Beautiful weather.

Up the Loft, down standard  Sucess!

This mountain lives up to its reputation. I can't wait to try the North Face and Kieners...

Finally Nailed a Winter Ascent  Sucess!

I got seriously pumped up for this one, hit great weather, and summited via the Trough-Narrows-Homestretch in 6 hours from Glacier Gorge solo.

So close...

Attempted the summit in winter conditions with my friend Rudy but did not quite reach the top.
We ascended the FLYING DUTCHMAN successfully (50 ft of WI2-3 that we protected with 3 screws) and made it within less than 500ft from the summit...Late hour, slow progress due to fresh snow coverage, and very windy weather conditions made us turn around.....so close! But there is always next time, right?

A "Long's" day  Sucess!

1st 14'er...learned I'd better train harder for the longer routes!

Keyhole Route  Sucess!

Hiked the Keyhole Route from Longs Peak Trailhead. Although I grew up in Illinois, my family would visit RMNP almost every summer. I had been looking forward to this one for a long time, and it completely lived up to my expectations. Perhaps my favorite peak.

Various Routes  Sucess!

My favorites have been the Casual Route, Alexander’s Chimney and the Notch Couloir.

This was my third time summiting Longs. We reserved a site at the Boulder Field.

First time  Sucess!

This was my first climb of Longs. I did it car to car via the Keyhole route. I arrived at the parking lot around midnight. Another climber said a ranger had just been by and hassled him for sleeping in his vehicle. So without any sleep I headed up the trail around 1:00am. I summited not long after dawn. I got back to my car around 10:30am.
