Looking back at the steep pitch on Nevado Huarancante

This 40m section, the first part on the SE ridge from the central saddle, was the crux of the route. Without snow I'm sure that it's an easy scramble, but I think that the snow made it easier still. You can see the trail I made. I had crampons, but didn't bring an ice ax. Instead, I punched my fists in the snow. 23 may 2011.
