Thanks. We have more crazy ideas for our future outs.
I like your "soft" idyll photos, good stuff with charming atmosphere. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thanks Pim.
Appreciate your comment a lot.
Maybe we stop climbing and start writing novels?;)
We just focused on our feelings, trying to make the TR as simple and clear as possible.
This summer I broke my neck and paralyzed myself, relegating a lifetime of climbing mountains to my dreams. It means a lot that you would take the time to write about your epics as I live vicariously through them. Keep living your dreams, for what will tomorrow bring?
As I know Jck's cousin had serious climbing accident. Something went wrong during rappel (carabineer) and he hit the ground faling on his back from huge height... broke his neck. After good rehab he reached the summit of Mont Blanc.
I wish your hard work will bring you back to our great passion - mountaineering too. Radek
(always wanted to see Seattle)
I have read this several times now and am always impressed. Great photos and great writing makes this one of the greatest TRs ever! Nice job, a true mountaineering tale. I'll stick to my ice climbing in the winter...
Thanks Dan.
I've also read this a couple of times but I have to...;)Great to know that somebody reads it few times because he likes it.
All the photos were taken by Brade.
Have a nice clibimng.

You mentioned the Bulgarian team... do you remember any names from that guestbook? There was a rather tragic accident, three young Bulgarian climbers died on the North face, they fell from the upper part, though I'm not sure whether they had stayed in the Hoernli hut before the attempt. It happened in the end of January this year.
I'm glad you like it. Don't remember any "Bulgarian team" climbers names (by the way, we didn't signed guestbook).
Tragic Bulgarian accident you wrote about happened in the end of January this year, we were in Hornli Hut during winter of 2005/06.
Are you 100% sure? Bulgarian Team that spend few days in the hut during winter of 2005/2006 wrote a day-schedule - it was so funny that we nailed it to the wall. Not many climbers visits Matterhorn in winter so we found it like a note from our friends: not to give up. These guys helped us to live trough hard moments in Solvay Hut and gave us a great dose of laugh. We would like to climb with such people.
Three Polish climbers died on February 2007, it was also their second winter attempt.
I checked their club's website - their first attempt was in February 2006 and they spent 8 days in Hoernli hut waiting for the weather to improve till they decided to retret.
The climbing community here is relatively small and I think no one else has attempted to do that recently, so I'm pretty sure it was them. Unless the notes were older, like from the summer of 2005...
So you must be right. It looked like they had spent much time in the hut, because the note showed that they had been bored. But we really liked the way they wrote about being stuck in the hut- cheerful not depressed. The notes were from winter 2005/2006 for sure. It also couldn't be older because summer somebody would just throw it away. In winter the hut is unguided so nobody threw the note away.
I regret to hear that piece of news. Like Radek said: we didn't met them in winter 2006 but we felt like there were our fellows- other guys from Eastern Europe with a dream to climb that mountain...
