Very Apollo 13 style. Succesful and dramatic retreat. Cheers

Great Story

Super detailed story you have here. I'm curious what was the cause of deaths for those previous parties the prior yr? Falls? Avalanche?

Re: Great Story

Falls...

Polish team (3climbers) was caught by snow storm during ascent and had to bivy on the ridge about 250m below Solvay hut. They asked AirZermatt for help but strong winds didn't let rescue helicopter to start. They spent night sitting in sleeping bags. Snow storm ended at night so they called once again and said they don't need help because decided to descent on their own. They were tied in one rope with no belay when they were found below the north face of Matterhorn.

Bulgarian team had an accident probably in last section of Schmid route. Fall.

Great report. I cant imagine going through such an intense experience. I would think you had to feel more alive those days than any other. Again, Amazing.

Re: amazing...

Thank you. I think mountaineering is not only about winning but about fighting. ...and we fought to a finish in those days. We treat this TR very personal so your comment means a lot to us. I just lived trough this story and try not to read it anymore but I'm very happy you like it.
