Day 1 of the Paria Canyon backpack. Several weeks earlier a major flood scoured out some new pools. This one was nearly neck deep out in the middle. (Of course I'm 5' 3", so it might only be waist deep to some people!) October, 2009

I've done the Buckskin pariah in similiar fashion! Great trip

This aspect of the trip down the Paria was somewhat unexpected! There were four pools where we had to strip down to our boots and wade / swim, three on the first day and one on the third day. We used my thermarest pad to float our packs across one of them, which worked out OK.
