Mono Lake - The Quiet Side

In late May 2013 we spent time in San Francisco, Muir Woods, Nevada including Mono Lake and Bodie State Park finishing with time in Yosemite.

When we got to Mono Lake it was midday and we had a long drive back to Minden, Nevada so we decided to visit the Old Marina side, relatively close to Route 120 and less crowded than the dramatic, larger tufa found more than 5 miles further (I know, that's nothing in western road distance!).

Yes, the tufa are smaller at this location and it was one of the worst times of day to be taking photos but we could not pass up any chance to view this amazing place. I hope to get back someday!

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
