FIRST OF THREE HIGHPTS ON A DAYTRIP FROM OHIO
Stopped by on our way skiing. Pretty good snow dump the night before: 1 - 2 feet blocked the trail. With snowshoes we might have made it, but no such luck.
I made the long drive over while in DC for work.
Just realized the date of my ascent: 1/1/01! Anyway the HP pf my home state of Pennsylvania.
The tough part of this is finding the back road to take you to the parking lot. From the parking lot it is just a short hike to the fire tower, and a nice view of the relatively flat, but rolling hills of central Pennsylvania.
Did the highpoint of my home state on a vacation trip with my parents. The only real memory I have from the mountain was getting a flat tire on the top and having to change it.
A pleasant day for a road trip to western PA. A little hazy and warm, but a great day to be outside, none the less.
cool countryside and the fire tower makes for a nice touch.
Liked the observation tower but the views were uninspiring.
Drove up to the top and then walked to the HP. Below Average Views for PA, much better hikes in the northeast.
Throughly unexciting summit with average view even on a nice day.
Beautiful day and the second of three highpoints that day. Really enjoyed it and lunch at "Take Six" in Meyersdale.
My dog Spanky and I slogged through slush and mud to the summit.
Wife and I climbed this peak when we first met! Not too much to look at, but I still love PA mountains. Fun little hike and hey, you have to visit the highest peak in PA if you are near.
2nd loop of HP;
first of 3 in the same day...
at less than a mile from TH ran up it 3 times before returning to the truck
Paid this place a visit while visiting family in Pittsburgh. Took the High Point Trail with my dog. Saw bear and fox tracks in the snow, but not much else. Virtually had the place to myself.
Just us. Pretty windy...not too cold....nice day though.
Easy. No one at the park but me.
Left Cleveland on trip back to Tarheelia. Third State HP and 20th county of trip. Pretty country
