Mount Grinnell NE summit view

Chief Mountain's recognizable summit peeks out from behind a maze of rocky ridges and lush valleys. The sharp, pointed summit to the left belongs to Gable Mountain, with the long, tan ridge in the foreground connecting Crowfeet Mountain (left) to Mount Henkel (right). This ridge can be traversed, as well as the ridge between Henkel and Apikuni Mountain, via the Crowfeet-Henkel-Apikuni Traverse. Red Rock Lake sits at the foot of Bullhead Point (an extension of Mount Wilbur) in the valley below. August 22, 2009
