Hung out with a giant marmot on the summit.
Climbed up the backside of the peak on a multi-day trip off trail into the backcountry near May Lake.
Quick and easy.
The view was as good as advertised
Nice day hike to summit.
Next time I will take a map of Yosemite so I can identify all the peaks in the range.
Beautiful spring day and just enough snowmelt to make this a hike rather than a snowclimb. Lost the use trail on the way up and made this a bit more difficult than it needed to be.
Pics and trip report here.
For distance, acclimating and great scenery, this is an excellent introduction to Yosemite hiking.
Clear blue sky and no wind. Great hike and good view from the summit
With Josh H.
Views were absolutely spectacular!!
On a day off; I was working on a drill rig to the south.
Quick climb from May Lake. Snow on many of the higher peaks in Yosemite.
Pretty hike up via May Lake with friends Bruce and Brian. Great views from the top of most of the other peaks in Yosemite.
One of the best summit views in Yosemite.
Hiked up from the parking lot via May Lake. Didn't like the part where there was pavement; it was sort of boring. Left the used trail and had fun scrambling up to the summit, though it was extremely short (so short it was really nothing, but at least beat the pavement at the beginning of the hike >:) No summit register (none on Kaiser, either!)...
Hiked up from May Lake on day 3 of a 7 day trip on a bluebird day. The wildflowers in the creek drainage were incredible!
I fell asleep on the final plateau before the summit. Woke up halfway down the mountain. Dad said we made it to the top and that the last bit was a scary scramble. I guess I'll have to take his word for it. No issues with the altitude.
Another birthday spent in Tuolomne! Camped at May Lake with my wife, our 16 month old and my 73 year old father. All of us made it to the base of the final summit climb - I scrambled to the top with Sierra (16 mo old) asleep on my back. Perfect day.
Followed the S Ridge via Hoffmann Creek drainage. A few class 3 moves to stay on/near the ridge crest in a couple places. Descent via May Lakes trail. Got to hike the Snow Flat road out as I couldn't hitchhike back to my vehicle/120, so guess I started too early as none of the other hikers had made it back to their cars yet.
Climbed on the whim on the way out after a trip to Parsons and Vogelsang. Didn't realize there was a trail from May Lake, so hiked up the ridge by the parking area and then up the steep slabs above Hoffmann Creek. Not a bad route actually, but took the trail to May Lake down.
