Mount Jackson from the north

Mount Jackson from the north

Looking south from the long ridge between Wynn Mountain and Mount Siyeh, one is rewarded with fantastic views of the impressive Lewis Range. Massive Mount Jackson, Glacier NP's 4th tallest peak, towers in the background. The steep glacial horn of Matahpi Peak is in the left foreground; far beneath the lower band of dark cliffs, a beautiful trail winds through the meadows of Preston Park (not visible), eventually climbing towards Siyeh Pass near the vertical strip of snow on the extreme left hand side of the photo. Going-to-the-Sun Mountain lies behind and to the left of Matahpi (its summit is out-of-frame). The shaded face in front of and to the right of Mount Jackson belongs to Fusillade Mountain, and the sharp point to the right is one of Gunsight Mountain's dual summits. August 4, 2008
