A surprisingly steep first pitch and a 24-hour elevation change of over 12,000ft made this a memorable first 13er! Wonderful weather, sweeping summit views, and a fantastic sunrise over Pt. 12,915 didn't hurt either.
Cold, and severe clear. Not a lot of snow up there yet. Enjoyable hike with Ray E. Also did Cupid and Grizzly.
first solo climbed...loved every minute of it..
this route was very easy for me, i jogged most of the way.
great views! perfect day to climb...light winds, crystal clear..until about 9:30-10 a.m...but i was done by then.
The wife and I did this as a quick trip just to get out for the afternoon. Started late but the weather held off on this bluebird day.
I climbed this several times....Well if you consider from Loveland Pass as climbing it??????????? But I do enjoy using this route as a great warm up and keeping in shape. I average 3 times a year with this super easy route
Jon Nelson and I hiked Sniktau from the pass. The weather was great- the big rainstorm from the night before left plenty of fog in it's wake, so we had a nice break from the sun. Looking southeast at the lake 1000 feet below was quite a sight. Nice mellow warmup hike though the next hike won't be- Mount Powell.
Quick little recovery hike today. Did Sniktau from Loveland in about 45 min, then traversed over to Grizzly and ran back to Loveland. A little under 3 hours round trip. Storms were moving in early today... thunder by 11am.
Quick, easy hike with the CMC. Good warmup for the backpack up to Missouri Gulch later that afternoon.
Some of my friends were skiing with the masses at A-Basin, I decided to solo this 13er instead and lose the crowds.
Hour and a half drive from Denver, took 2 hours to reach the summit and 1 hour to descend back to Loveland Pass. An awesome short hike.
Climbed in combination with Grizzly from Loveland Pass. Climbed with my brother Paul, and friend PJ.
climbed a couple thirteeners from loveland pass with jamie. wasn't a good day for me physically. need to start taking my running much more seriously!
Nice hike. Little windy up on the ridges. Perfect for a quick outing on my way back home from Denver.
This kids from the east so getting use to the altitude was the main purpose of this in preparation for the class 4 kelso ridge on Torreys
This was the second time I tried Sniktau. The first time, the year before, my hiking partner and I got pinned down in a nasty wind/snow storm on the top of the ridge. This year, we were more prepared with cold weather gear and managed to knock this 13er down.
Be warned: don't underestimate the wind on this peak and ridge!
I liked this short hike. It was easy to get to, and it was just strenuous enough to keep away the hordes of visitors to Loveland Pass. The views were great for a 13er, Grays and Torreys are right there, Longs Peak, the Mummy Range, the Never Summers, the Gore Range, and much more.
I took what might be my best Colorado sunset photo ever from Sniktau; peaks forever in golden light.
Climbed this one after the season's first snowfall on scattered patches of snow. It gave me an excuse to play with my new ice axe so that made it worthwhile. Back down on the pass, I saw two boarders helping their buddy back to the car after he blew out his knee. So worth it to end your season for a 6" jump onto 2" of packed ice in October!
Climbed with my wife. Great weather, not much wind until we turned around. We had the summit to ourselves- won't happen unless you get an early start. Nice hike.
less snow than I expected, timing was good because storm with high winds and blowing snow came in as I returned to Loveland Pass-- definitely a reminder to go prepared even on short, easy treks
