Great angleMan, this view really makes Thielsen look like a nasty, mean mountain rather than the sweet lovable peak that it is. Nice shot Radek.

Re: Great angleTHank you Dean.
Really DOES look imposing, doesn't it? It's a fun mountain!!
Looks like this might have been the last good weather day of the season? Really sucks...
take care.

Re: It Looks Good EnoughHey Aaron,
sorry, It only took me a month and a half to notice this comment from you !!! My apologies - somehow it got by me. That would be great - it's a fun, one day outing and the summit is quite spectacular (pretty cozy :).....give us a heads-up as to when you're thinking of heading out west.

This is a cool pictureThielsen looks so different from various angles, this is the first time I have seen this side of it. Definitely on my list for 2006.

So ...a person can actually make out the southern half of Crater Lake from the summit of Thielsen? I didn't know that. Where does a person CAMP at on Thielsen? From what I understand, there's a camp on the mountain's north side, but most (if not all) of the scrambling/Class III stuff is on the SOUTH. Whatever - sounds very interesting! - Larry

Re: So ...Larry,
I think you can see a sliver of Crater Lake from summit of Thielsen. In summer, Thielsen is a fairly easy car-to-car outing with the final 60 feet being solid 4th class scramble. It is a GREAT outing if you ever pass this way. Problem with camping in the summer is water - not much snow late in season & no streams along the way taht I recall (then again my memory is a bit fuzzy this being saturday night & haveing couple margaritas in me already. cheers & regards,
radek

Re: So ...Just to clear things up, there's a mountain west of Vegas called 'Pa's Rump.' It might have been named by the same DUDE who named Butt Mountain ! ??? I don't know, things are fogging up! Radek, take care !!! - Larry
