Its going to take me a while to read it all, but from what I have seen so far and your photos, this looks like a great trip to a wonderfully beautiful area. You have some of the best family vacations out there, thanks for sharing as always!
This seems like a wonderful experience for an adventuresome family willing to hike a little, sleep out and travel with the locals. I hope your kids never forget all the great experiences of this trip and the other trips you shared here on SP.
Your kids are certainly not "outdoors-deprived" like the average child in America!
What a trip - and amazing photos, especially the ones of Krakatau erupting. I have been up Stromboli & seen the fireworks up there - but not so spectacular as what you saw. Nice one! Mark
I'm SO impressed, Scott. Those pictures are AMAZING, I LOVE all of your adventures, and it's SUCH a gift to your kids to take them to SO many places, and let them truly experience them. I'm REALLY glad your dad had the opportunity to go. What GREAT memories! You are an incredible husband, father, son, and everything else, including friend.

Do you mean parasites or sickness?
If so, no. We didn't get sick at all on the trip, but I did get a minor case of the flu after I got back to the US (picked up from co-workers).
