Approach
This summit is a hike and the trail starts right where you park you car so there is no approach.
Route Description
Don't be fooled into taking the trail that looks like an old road. The real trail is just to the right of that. It's about 3.8 miles to the summit and gains 2600 feet. At one point, about a mile into the hike, the trail takes a sharp turn to the right and a lava field with what looks like a trail continues straight ahead. The false trail ahead ends and you'll be wondering what went wrong. The rest of the trail is pretty straight-forward. It gets steeper near the top but there are enough switchbacks that it is not difficult. Descend the same trail.
Essential Gear
None needed.
