This radio comes ready to use on the ham 2meter band and 440mhz band. It's real good use is once it's wide band enabled. You can then use it in emergencies on

FRS at 5 watts!
GMRS at 5 watts!
Marine (including coastguard 16) at 5 Watts!
Park ranger frequencies if they are willing to give you them.

Remember, use outside of the ham freqs is illegal unless it's a life threatening situation.
