I've taken this camera with my on all of my hikes and the pictures always come out great. The zoom is a great feature and convenient for looking at distance peaks. The large LCD screen makes sharing the photos with my fellow hikers on the way home really easy. There are also great presets for things such as distant scenery (i.e. mountains) or really close-up shots (i.e. flowers). My only complaint is that it can take a bit of time for the camera to cycle so you can take another picture. But if you use the action setting then it will cycle slightly faster.

The charging/syncing dock that comes with the camera package makes it really easy to transfer the images off of the camera and also charges the battery quickly.
