Very comfortable shoe. Needs very little breakin time. Recently spent 3 days in the Whites carrying 30#+ pack and they did seem to breakdown a little bit. I do not think they are built for the heavy loads. Great day boot.Seem to be very stable on uneven rocks even when it is wet.
You can somtimes catch them on sale for $99 but most likely you will see a $119 to $129 price tag on them.
I have found these boots to be quite comfortable backpacking, scrambling, and just randomly hiking around. Wore them for 6 weeks straight, 8 hours a day doing field research with no foot problems. Very stable on slickrock.
I now have some stiching problems on the side of the boot, which negates the waterproofing, but I still wear them in dry areas. I believe the newer models wrap the toe cap around on the side more and move the stitching further back. These changes appear to address the problem I had with them.
Tread life is very good, mine have held up in very rough conditions for 500+ miles.
Bottom Line: Great light hiker with added support
