Fantastic!
I rented a lot of different types of snowshoes before I bought any, and these are by far superior to and Atlas, Redfeather, or Tubbs makes. I live in Washington State (the West side) so perhaps these shoes are just tailored better to our wet snow and steep terrain. Out here there is nothing better for casual hiking to mountaineering.

Loud and slick
I bough a pair of these and found them to be extremely loud when walking on anysort of packed surface.They worked very well on the ascents,but terrible for me on the desents.The side crampons acted much like a pair if skates.I virtually had to walk sideways the whole time climbing downward.I fabricated a large crampon under the rear of the foothold.This seems to have done the trick.As for the noise,well I suppose that theres nothing I can do.I did drillseveral small holes to help lighten them up allittle too.With some work they can do the job

Keepin' it simple
You really don't need anything more than these for snowshoes. Otherwise, you're just paying excessive amounts for some functions that over-complicate the design and make them harder to do maintenance on in the backcountry if they did go out.
Either way, snowshoeing = suffering, and these reduce the suffer-fest.

Wonderful!
The best pair of snowshoes I've ever used! For years I been using a lousy pair pf tubbs and hope never to go away from MSR now that I'm using them. A few reasons why this did not get 5 stars.
1. It snapped on one side, although the previous owner used them a lot I assume. This is not a big deal
2. They do not have riser bars
3. Good teeth but not quite the same as Lightning Ascents and all the new snowshoes
But all in all it's a great snowshoe and would recommend to a friend.
