Wettest...
Nice easy hike from A470, but this is the wettest I have ever been on any mountain in such a short period of time. Driving rain with gale force winds at the top. Will give it another go on a better day.

Pen y Fan in in early 90s
Love to hear from anyone who was regularly in this part of the BB during the 90s.
I spent a lot of time in the area training and have fond memories, can't even remember how many times I ran up and down those hills:)
Glad to see they're still bringing joy!

Terrible Weather, Second time successful
Don't take this mountain for granted. I actually had to abandon my first attempt in February 2011 because I was literally on my hands & knees. I tried again on the last day of 2011 & just about succeeded. The weather was pretty bad once again, but I managed to get to the summit via the goats track, which had great views as long as the weather permits. Beware of loose rocks & slippery mud on the final approach to the summit.
Nice walk with restricted visibility, fog and rain all the time. November 2009

A good testing route 10.8 miles for the first time!
Also I found disturbing in the car park woodland are all the crosses for Para's and SAS people etc!

Easter Outing
With my wife Rita, we got to the summit of Pen Y Fan and watched a parapenter holding station in the air above the ridge before we walked on to the other two tops.

10.8miles On The Beacons
A fine day for my 5th time up on the Brecon Beacons.
Start from A470 car park 10.30am
Clear and sunny but gusts of about 45mph out on the tops.
Covered. Corn Du - Pen Y Fan - Cribyn - Fan Y Big. Then down south in the valley to the Neuadd Reservoir. After a nice snack break at the dam we then head back up on to the west ridge.
Return via. Twyn Mwyalchod Trig Point - Graig Fan Ddu - Craig Gwaun Taf and Bwlch Duwynt.
Back to A470 car park at 18.00pm
Complete route done in 7.5hours including stopping breaks.
I have only ventured to this part of Wales to climb once, and did all four, must do something about it though. I remember caving there too but not too sure where.
Whilst staying with a friend in Abergavenny, I decided to head on up and hike Pen Y Fan. My friend 'politely' declined my 5:00am invitation to join me, so I headed up there on my own.
Can't remember where I started from, but I do know I passed Corn Du on the way to the summit. Despite being overcast, it only rained a little on the way up, and after passing Corn Du, the weather cleared up nicely.
Really great hike. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the area.
