4 Days trek with kids in Triglav

by adibar » Wed May 18, 2016 3:03 pm

Hello,
We are a family of 4. Our kids are 13 and 10.
We plan to come and tour Triglav in the coming Summer and do a four days trek as follow:
> Day one: Savica waterfall to Koca Pri hut
> Day Two: Koca Pri hut to Dom Planika hut
> Day Three: Dom Planika hut to Vodnikov hut
> Day Four: Vodnikov hut back to the Savica waterfall (or another place near by)
We would appreciate your advice and recommendations (we are opening to another routs).
This is not our first trek, for the last 4 years we are hiking in Europe (each time for up to three days).
My important question is if that rout fits to the age of our kids?
Thank you, Adi Barak

Hi Adi,

You have quite a comfortable schedule, but it's OK, so you have also some reserve. I guess you want to ascend on day three also Triglav. The ascent on its top is the only more difficult and in some sections also a bit exposed part. Here age does not matter much, but also your 10-years kid can make it. Would be good to have just a short rope with you - so that you are comfortable there are no mistakes. So, do come when weather is more stable - usually end of July, August - and do reserve sleeping in huts early enough. Those huts around Triglav are very crowded!

When time comes, let me know your final plan. For a start here is a good online map:

Cheers,
Vid

Hello Adi,
You should get in touch with MITJA who knows very well the National Park of Mount Triglav. He is also an international certified mountain guide. I'm sure he will advise you on what to do and where to go. He has also kids so I'm sure he will tell you about the best spots for families. You can find more info about him here - https://www.explore-share.com/p/748-mitja. Good luck and have fun in Slovenia ! It's such an amazing country and still not too popular.

Hi Adi,
We are thinking of doing a similar trek this summer with our 4 children.
Did you go on this trek in the end?
How was it?
Can I contact you and discuss the feasibility of these plans?
