Any dudes here slept in a women's sleeping bag?

by kheegster » Tue Feb 02, 2010 3:08 am

I just found a great deal on a sleeping bag that I've been looking at for a long time. The only thing is - it's the women's version.

The women's Long is the same length as the men's Regular which I normally use, but it seems to have a slightly smaller circumference all round. Are there any other issues I should take note?

Nah. What's the problem with sleeping in a straight jacket?

If you're small in the shoulders I say go for it. Depends how much you toss and turn.

How does the shoulder and hip girth compare to the men's model? Some manufacturers have a significant difference in these dimensions while for others it's hardly noticeable. Regardless, if you think it will do buy it.

My winter bag is an older TNF (circa 1998) womens bag. It is built a bit wider in the hips section (which I like since it gives me more room), enough space in the shoulders, its just long enough (why heat more space), has more down (they figured that women sleep colder). For me its a greatt thing (though the woman doesn't come with it).

I also sleep on a womens pro-lite pad also. Its reddish-pink but it was cheaper. I have no shame.

I have, but I do have to say it was a bit of a squeeze having us both in there.

Go for it, dahling.

So, I always thought it was strange that thermalrest pads have a different distribution of insulation in their women's version because (in theory) women get cold in different spots then men do. :? I'm not sure how you actually test these things....

My conclusion: I don't care how big your ass is, minus 20 is minus 20. If you can save a few dollars, do it. Unless the bag is hot pink with a picture of Cinderella on it.
