Climbing ropes are not biodegradable, so when they get thrown out, they end up sitting in a landfill for at least 30 years before they start to wash away. One way to prevent this problem is by making them into another good, which they actually lend themselves to due to their strength. I am trying to do this by starting a business that turns them into belts that actually look really cool, so if anyone wants to support this effort, my website is fitzoutfitters.com
Pretty cool idea, they look good, and the cost is reasonable, too. Do you make them in longer lengths? I never was a skinny-waisted person, even in my running days (34" waist). I've had to significantly scale back my climbing/hiking/conditioning activities over the past decade due to medical reasons and that's caused me to gain a few inches around the midsection to where a 42" long belt won't fit.
