DMM biner and if the tape is a faded rose color - it's mine!

My how times have changed. Back when camming devices were new and people were getting them stuck everywhere, most of my rack was made of gear bootied from routes on Tahquitz. Folks seemed to have a special fondness for losing #1 friends - I still have a drawer full of them. It never occurred to anyone to try to find the proper owner of gear found on the crag (first thing was to remove any identifying markings.) Maybe a camera sitting around, but climbing gear? Not a chance.

And if one of us were to actually leave a piece it would be kept a deep dark secret, the shame of it. And of course we would see it on Clark's rack the next week anyway...

Ever notice the glint in Clark's eyes at the mention of thunderstorms in Idyllwild on a summer weekend?

All bs aside, good one on you for trying.

Well, the internet certainly has changed things for getting gear back to owners. The closest we had when cams first came out, at least in the Valley, was the Camp 4 bulletin board. I JT the Hidden Valley bulletin board had some but mostly notes for partners. I always figured any of my MIA gear was booty-a sacrafice to the rock gods...and I agree, kudos to hamik.

Funny - Blair saw my signature color tape on a Cam a friend of HIS found at Tahquitz that I lost well over a year prior. He gave it back to me.....a #1 Camalot. HA! There are some nice people out there. :)
