Thanks for the comments and the site mates.

peninsula, Tamron AF28-200MM F/3.8-5.6 XR Aspherical (IF) Macro is 350 Euro here. I don't think that the difference between the Konica Minolta AF DT Zoom 18-200 mm F3.5 to 6.3 (D) and Tamron is big.

BTW, what does aspherical mean :?:

If cost is not much different, go for the KM lens. I would have to assume you would get a better product at best or an equivalent product at worst. My understanding with Tamron and other "generic" lens manufacturers is they may be lacking in terms of quality control issues. I am not certain as to the truth behind this allegation, but I have heard it from others, including my local camera shop owner that I have patronized over the years.

The term aspherical applies to lens-shaping (or in lesser expensive applications, lens-coating) technology with the objective of eliminating distortion: http://www.photozone.de/3Technology/lenstec8.htm

I know Sigma has QA issues, I have never heard that about Tamron. I happen to have 3 Tamron lenses, a 20-40 2.8, a 70-200 2.8, and a 90 2.8 macro. All are L series lenses and nearly as good as the Canon equivalents at about half the price. Tamron actually builds quite a few lenses for Canon as well.

CF as in compact flash memory? Unless you have a quiver of cameras to worry about then you just buy whatever memory the camera requires. I would expect CFII to work in a CFI camera because most of those specs are backward compatible.

My camera accept both but I'd want to know the differences between both because somebody is going to give one to me as a present. I'd also like to know what is a microdrive...

CompactFlash defines a physical interface which is smaller than, but electrically identical to, the PCMCIA-ATA interface. That is, it appears to the host device as if it were a hard disk of some defined size and has a tiny IDE controller onboard the CF device itself. The connector is about 43 mm wide, and the case is 36 mm deep and comes in two standard thicknesses, CF I (3.3 mm), and CF II (5 mm). Both types are otherwise identical. CF I cards can be used in CF II slots, but CF II cards are too thick to fit in CF I slots. Flash memory cards are usually CF I.
(from wikipedia.org)
Micro drive is CF sized hard disk with moving parts. It uses more power then regular CF card.

Today I've could see Cosina 70-210 mm (4.5 - 5.6f) but I haven't had a good feeling when rotating its focus, it was too loose. I'll follow looking for other zoom lenses, I've couldn't find the one by Konika-Minolta yet

mpbro wrote:For my brithday, I got an Olympus C-5060. So far, I love it! It's not an SLR, but you get a bigger lens than a point-n-shoot, and some lens options, like a filter adapter, and fisheye and zoom add-ons. The Super-Macro option is simply spectacular. I went right up to a flower (maybe 5 cm away) in low-light conditions and snapped an amazingly crisp photo. The camera weighs 15 ounces....

I have the Olympus C-5000 and it also has that super macro function. It's an amazing feature and I've gotten so many spectacular flower photos with it! I also want a d-SLR but even when I get one I'll probably still use my Olympus if just for that function alone...

Will that be strong or rather stable enough it seems to be made for a lighter camera (not SLRs)?

It is strong, it's made for holding a maximum weight of 3.5 Kg. Anyway, it's quite heavy for mountaineering IMO so I'll only carry it on very short hikes and when traveling by car.

Finally I've bought below's zoom lens for 240 Euro, I'm impatient for using it in the great outdoors.
