Do you recognize these mountains?

by Bill Reed » Fri Apr 21, 2017 3:48 pm

Taken on a flight from Denver to Seattle on March 25th. I was thinking I was over Idaho and that it might be near Borah Peak but not familiar enough with the area to be sure. The peak left of center looks distinctive enough that I thought someone might recognize it. View is looking south.
Any thoughts?

Can't say exactly what peak it is, but it doesn't look like the Lost River Range. Maybe in the Pioneer Mountains...it kinda looks like the Devils Bedstead when viewing on GE

I agree with Matt. Looks like the Pioneers near Sun Valley/Ketchum.

Thanks for the input! One thing that caught my eye is what appears to be a reservoir slightly above and to the right of the peak. Here's another photo taken seconds later that clearly shows the reservoir. Only thing I see on GE that corresponds is Mackay Reservoir. Does that look right?

Been studing on it and having a hard time dialing it in. Seems like the view is maybe more SW than S. Best guess I can make is Mt McCaleb?

Thanks everyone for your input!!

It's pretty cool that we were able to figure it out, or get close at least. The clouds made it a lot tougher I think and the reservoir ID was the key for me.

I agree Sunny Buns, I always get a window seat and love spotting places I've been to!
