Hiking in April

by aec » Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:46 pm

I am an Aussie living in London and looking to do a week of hiking (either hut to hut or day walks from a base) in April. I lack familiarity with European conditions at that time of the year but appreciate many huts are closed and spring melt will be underway. I am looking for ideas of where I can find some moderate to challenging hiking in Europe that is safe to do solo.

Thanks!

Try the Slovakian Tatras, they are beautiful, with a pretty good hut system. There may be quite a bit of snow there in April though.

Lakes / Snowdon... the best mini adventures you will find!!!! I normally go on my own with the dog... my faves are the snowdon horseshoe and helvellyn by striding edge. only 1/2 day outing but worth it!!! :D
